Once assembled, the Wilesco D5 can be fired and operated as a fully functional model steam engine. The D5 features a polished and nickel-plated brass boiler, water-level sight glass, working steam whistle and 70 mm flywheel.

About the Wilesco D5 steam engine kit

The highly polished and nickel-plated brass boiler not only gives the machine an attractive appearance, but also weather resistance and durability.

The water level indicator in the form of a sight glass allows you to keep an eye on the water level at all times during operation. Its boiler capacity is 135 cm³ and a size of 100 x 45 mm, meaning the boiler holds plenty of water and steam needed for prolonged operation of the machine.

The flywheel with a diameter of 70 mm ensures a smooth running of the machine.

The screwed dome steam whistle can be operated during operation via a special lever.

It’s lovely sound resembles the famous Emma locomotive from the children’s book “Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver”.

When assembling the lever for the steam whistle, make sure that the lever made of black, heat-resistant plastic points outwards, so that you can operate it during operation without touching the boiler.
