BIX Refillable Standard Size Gas Tank For Live Steam
The BIX 015 Refillable Gas Tank is a robust gas tank intended for use with compatible live steam model engines and boilers. It stores fuel and supplies gas to a suitable burner, providing an alternative to solid-fuel heating tablets for running model steam engines.
- Approx. 90mm long
- Securing foot
- 4mm mounting holes
- Outlet thread 1/4×32
- Made from Copper & Brass
- Strong silver solder construction
- Pressure and leak tested to 400 psi
- Uniquely numbered
- BIX product number: BIX 015
Each tank carries a test certificate stating the test pressure and the butane/propane mix ratio. 70/30.
The filling of the tank is accomplished in the same way that a cigarette lighter is filled, using a Bix gas refill adapter.
If you need a refill adapter, click here to get one.
IMPORTANT! ONLY 70 % butane 30% propane mix or 100 % butane gas should be used (brands like GoSystem gas work great).
The BIX 015 is sold as the standard-size tank, while the BIX 016 is the small upright tank and the BIX 017 is the large tank.

Bill –
A well made bit of kit. Very solid and easy to refill, and it does the job exactly as it should. Gives a steady gas supply and keeps my stuart boiler running nicely. A good bit of engineering that should give many years of service.
